To all readers,

First off Welcome!  The WoW Economist originally started in October of 2008.  This site is dedicated to the World of Warcraft economy.  The central focus is on what’s hot and what’s not in-game.  From time to time we’ll make some forward looking statements based on upcoming changes in the game.  Some may even fret we’re giving out trade secrets to stock piles of gold and that’s hardly the case.  Like the free economies of the real world,  World of Warcraft has ebb’s and flows.

Having said that,  some readers may find topics to be a bit educational in terms of markets theories, economics and real life economies.  Some posts may touch on such topics or offer real world examples.

Comments are always welcome on all the posts. Debates on theorycrafting the world of warcraft economy will always be welcome as long as its polite.  Who says you can’t learn something in the game?

My main is on Windrunner US,  I run a Holy Priest named Javafanatic and member of Templar’s of the Cross,   it’s “more than casual raiding guild”,  we’re farming latest content,  getting some hard modes done here and there but mostly it’s a guild about having fun. 

A lot of you may wonder if I’ve hit the gold cap,  no I haven’t even tried to be honest.  Do I sit in front of the Auction House for hours on end?  Hardly!  I’m like many people,  a raider who’s just supporting his habit.   As an alt-a-holic,  I’ve got most professions maxed out on various toons which allows me reduce my raiding costs and it also affords me with an abundance of opportunities to make some gold.   Every once and a while I do put on my Auction House “Day Trading Hat”  but usually it’s only to replenish the coffers after a big purchase like five epic flying mounts.  Ultimatley I have a great time with professions and I have a blast figuring out ways to make some gold based on changes in the game or simply due to my desire to add some variety to my in-game income.
