I dropped tailoring myself at lvl 445 but ended up picking it back up after taking a look at some of the tailoring patterns on the Test Server. According to some websites that focus on max dps, there seems to be patterns floating around the test server that are next to BiS. Might be a boost to the tailoring profession.

I absolutely agree. The 4 day cooldown and the 3g eternium thread requirement to make items both hamstring tailoring compared to any other profession.

There is one good reason for tailoring still - Lightweave Embroidery is the BiS cloak enchant for most casters still. It procs pretty often (50% apparently, 45s internal cooldown) and 295 spell power for 15s is very nice indeed. Works out to be on average additional 74 spell power.
